LUMINOUS ORNAMENT, JUNG Kyung Tae |
The project aims to investigate how ornaments can be the product of light, shadow and colour by reinterpreting John Ruskin. Instead of the monochromatic classical ornamentation created by the stonemasons of the past, this project reinvents ornament as the polychrome layers of televisual projection.

The method of designing ornament stems from a desire to create a connection between the neighbouring ‘John Soane Museum’ and the client who operates at the forefront of digital media and wireless networks. Her collection of modern and contemporary art, with a focus on collage/assemblage, will be absorbed by polychromatic projections and dynamic oscillation of light and shadow. - “The Seven lamps of Architecture”, Chapter IV: The Lamp of Beauty

영국 Architectural Association School of Architecture 에서 AA Diploma 과정을 졸업 후 영국 CMK-Architects 등에서 세계 여러곳의 다양한 스케일의 프로젝트들에 참여하였다. 영국왕립건축사(ARB/RIBA) 취득 및 등록 후 개인 건축설계프로젝트를 시작하였으며, 현재 국립경남과학기술대학교 건축학과 교수로 재직중이다. 건축재료, 기하학과 알고리즘을 기반한 형태에 대한 실험 및 공간으로의 건축적 실현 방법에 대해 실무 그리고 학문적으로 탐구하고 있다. |
